Frequently asked questions
Having a dog myself, I know how much your pet means to you and see it as an honour when I'm asked to draw yours. Being an animal lover, I feel a connection to every single pet I draw. Hearing your stories and seeing all their little quirks inspires me to put that love into my portraits.
I know it is an expensive and personal choice to commission a portrait and I aim to provide the best personalised customer service throughout to put you at ease. I will work very closely with you and give advice on the photos and paper colours that will do your pet justice. Where necessary I can work with several photos to cross reference and bring out their best self; add in that special collar, bring out the glint in their eyes or even add some flowers or their favourite toy. I don't aim to draw A pet, I aim to draw YOUR pet!
I have a wealth of experience in drawing pets and have gained skills, not only in the materials and techniques to create a portrait, but also in understanding the differences between pets and breeds to be able to enhance and bring out those characteristics. From long fluffy fur, to short and bristly, from the blackest fur to the whitest, I've drawn them all and know how to apply the best techniques for your specific pet to show off their personality. That experience is essential, particularly when drawing memorial portraits for those who are sadly no longer with us.
Getting a pet portrait is a special and exciting time, and I want you to relax, enjoy the experience and leave the hard work to me!

Once you have approved your completed portrait I will post your portrait first class, so you should receive it within a couple of days if you are in the UK, worldwide postage can take longer. Please note that once I have posted your portrait, I have no control over timescales, this becomes the postal service's responsibility.

Yes! Before any portrait is booked, I will chat to you to explain all the options available to you and to understand your requirements.
I will offer advice regarding which photos will work best, any adaptations we can do to improve the portrait and which background colours will compliment your pet's colouring.
We will confirm all the details before the portrait is booked and before I start drawing.
During the drawing process, I may ask for your input at certain points to clarify colouring or detail. You are welcome to give feedback during the process however please note that any major changes will result in additional cost. This has never happened before, and I aim to avoid this by us agreeing everything before I start.
